Hide Actual Password But Allow Share Access#20

?

Hide password with dots, but still allow users to copy/paste in hidden password, just like LastPass.

This is something we can manage to work out, but it’s not completely bulletproof.

Let me explain: a user can copy the hidden password, but as soon as that client or user makes a paste into a texteditor, the addressbar of their browser or any other input field other than a password field, the password will show up in plain text.

Would that be a problem?

Yes. That’s a big big problem. We don’t want user/client to see our password. In fact, we shared it using the tool so that the work can be done without sharing the password. Else, why wouldn’t I simply mail him/her my password.

I don’t see anybody is looking for a secured google sheet here, but for an efficient password management and sharing system.

Yes. Sharing password with plain text will be an issue. Can’t you tie the username/password and the URL as a bunch and when we share the password - we essentially share the URL too. So, the client will “automatically” login with the username/password to the URL without going to the login screen.. In other words this is what I am envisaging -

  1. I share a URL/username/Password combo with my client.
  2. Client login to Hypervault and goes to dashboard.
  3. They see my shared details.
  4. Client clicks on a button “Login” thats available for this URL row in their dashboard.
  5. You launch a browser behind the scenes and open the URL and login with the details.(All of this happens without the browser “visible” to the client.
  6. Once logged in, the browser becomes visible to the client and shows the homepage/dashboard of the URL.
  7. Clients does whatever they want.
  8. Client logs out of the application/URL.

I am NOT sure how much of this is technically possible - though :)
